But Segarra is quick to point out that being a strong litigator does not mean every case should become a fight.

For Segarra, who now calls the Treasure Coast home, the firm's latest expansion is particularly meaningful.
"We're growing, and that's exciting. But I've never been interested in building a giant law firm where clients become file numbers," Segarra said. "I want us to know our clients, understand what's at stake, and give them a strategy that actually makes sense for their circumstances. That's how we started, and that's how I intend for us to continue."
Segarra also credits the firm's attorneys and staff for making that growth possible.
"You don't build something that lasts 18 years by yourself. We've been fortunate to have people on this team who genuinely care about our clients and take pride in their work. I'm incredibly grateful for that."

1Pay.pk Sets Out Merchant QR Payment Display Checks

KARACHI, PAKISTAN - October 16, 2026 - PRESSADVANTAGE - 
1Pay.pk, the payment aggregation and technology brand of Setlexor Services (Private) Limited, is setting out voluntary guidance on QR payment displays for merchants in Pakistan. The company statement addresses how businesses identify an approved display, check the payment destination and confirm a transaction before staff mark a counter sale as paid.
The advisory focuses on the physical payment point rather than announcing a new QR service. Its proposed review connects the displayed code with the merchant's approved payment arrangement and the staff procedure used at checkout. A readable code alone does not establish that the destination, amount or transaction status is correct for the purchase being completed.
Under the proposed approach, the business keeps a record of the QR material approved for each payment point and identifies who may replace it. Where several counters use different references, staff should know which reference belongs to their location. The record should be held by an authorized person rather than depending on the employee who originally printed the display.
The company recommends inspecting customer-facing material when a payment point opens and after a display is moved or replaced. An unfamiliar label, damaged print or unexplained change should be referred to the responsible manager before the code is used. The aim is to establish that the material on the counter matches what the business intended to present.
“A payment display is part of the merchant's checkout process, not just a printed sign,” said Arshad Syed Muhammad, Founder and CEO of 1Pay.pk. “Staff need to recognize the approved destination and know where a completed payment is confirmed. Those checks should still work when a different employee takes over the counter.”
The advisory asks merchants to establish what recipient name customers should expect to see in the supported payment journey. If the trading name and displayed recipient differ, the business should obtain an explanation through its approved provider before giving staff a standard answer. An unexplained destination should not be accepted simply because scanning the code opens a payment screen.
Amount handling also needs to match the actual QR arrangement. Some journeys may require the customer to enter an amount, while others may present transaction-specific information. Merchants should confirm how their own setup operates and check the amount against the sale. The guidance does not imply that every code contains an order reference or automatically updates a till.
At completion, the staff member should use the merchant-side confirmation process specified for the approved service. A customer screenshot or a message shown on another person's device should not be the sole basis for closing the sale. If confirmation is unavailable, the transaction belongs in the merchant's exception process rather than being treated as definitely successful or definitely failed.
The statement recommends checking the original attempt before asking the customer to repeat payment through another code or method. Staff should preserve the sale reference and any available transaction reference while an authorized person investigates. The advisory does not establish a universal waiting period, promise an automatic reversal or guarantee that a second attempt will resolve the first.
When QR material is retired, the merchant should remove outdated copies from the payment points it controls and brief the staff who may still direct customers to them. If an unrecognized display is found, the business should stop using that display and contact its approved provider. Customers should never be asked to share payment passwords or one-time authorization codes with counter staff.

Survivors of Abuse NJ Announces Child Sexual Abuse Legal Update

Survivors of Abuse NJ has announced an informational update addressing civil litigation involving child sexual abuse allegations and institutional responsibility under New Jersey law. Based in Mt. Under the legislation, individuals who experienced qualifying abuse as minors generally may bring civil claims until age 55 or within seven years of discovering the relationship between the abuse and resulting injuries, whichever is later. The applicable deadline depends on the circumstances of the claim and relevant legal provisions.
The legislation also established a temporary two-year period for certain previously time-barred claims. That period began on December 1, 2019, and concluded on November 30, 2021. Although the temporary filing period has expired, other statutory provisions continue to govern the filing of qualifying civil actions.
Civil litigation concerning childhood sexual abuse may involve allegations of negligent hiring, retention, supervision, or other failures by organizations responsible for overseeing personnel. Schools, religious institutions, childcare operators, residential facilities, and youth programs may be subject to legal examination when allegations involve individuals associated with their operations. Whether an institution bears responsibility depends on the evidence, applicable law, and duties established in the particular case.
Evidence in these proceedings may include personnel records, institutional policies, internal communications, incident reports, and documentation of previous complaints. Witness statements and records establishing the relationship between an institution and an accused individual may also become relevant. Courts consider such materials when assessing disputed facts and determining whether the legal elements of a claim have been established.

Criminal prosecutions address alleged violations of criminal law, while civil proceedings determine liability and potential remedies under applicable legal standards. The annual adjustment is tied to the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers from the third quarter of 2025 through the third quarter of 2026.

The agency’s 2027 fact sheet lists the disability thresholds for the coming year. The substantial gainful activity amount rises from $1,690 to $1,770 per month for non-blind individuals and from $2,830 to $2,950 for blind individuals. The trial work period amount rises from $1,210 to $1,270 per month. The SSI federal payment standard rises from $994 to $1,029 for an individual and from $1,491 to $1,544 for a couple, while the SSI resource limits remain $2,000 and $3,000.
After the adjustment, the agency estimates that the average monthly benefit for all disabled workers will be $1,701, up from $1,642. For a disabled worker with a spouse and one or more children, the estimated average is $3,077, up from $2,970.
People with a my Social Security account can view their COLA notice online beginning in late November, the agency said, and people not enrolled in paperless notices will receive one by mail in December.
The annual adjustment applies to Social Security and SSI benefits under the Social Security Act. Benefit amounts under private disability insurance policies are set by the terms of each policy. Long-term disability benefits may be reduced when an insured also receives Social Security disability benefits, as designated by the policy language, according to McDermott Law. Nolo, a legal publisher, reports that long-term disability policies commonly require claimants to apply for Social Security disability benefits and allow the insurer to reduce payments by the amount received, while the person’s Social Security benefits themselves remain intact.

Maven IT Solutions Publishes Guidance for Arrays Past Dell EOSL

Maven IT Solutions has published an array refresh framework to help enterprise storage teams decide whether to extend Dell PowerMax and VMAX arrays past the end of OEM support or plan a hardware refresh. The guidance, written by Managing Partner and Founder Brendan Finley, addresses a decision many organizations face as older generations of the Symmetrix lineage reach end of life (EOL) and end of service life (EOSL).
The framework starts by separating two dates that are often confused. EOL marks the point when Dell stops selling a platform new and ends capacity upgrades. EOSL is the date that changes operational risk: replacement parts stop flowing through standard OEM channels, array OS and firmware updates end, and the direct escalation path to Dell’s support and engineering tiers closes. The array keeps running, and stored data is not at risk on day one. Confusing the two, according to Maven, leads some teams to replace hardware with years of life left and others to run past EOSL without a plan for the next failure.

Rather than assigning a single number of safe years after EOSL, the framework weighs four factors together: parts availability for the specific director and engine generation, firmware and Solutions Enabler currency, workload criticality and recovery requirements, and replication risk for arrays in SRDF configurations. In Maven’s assessment, most arrays fall between extending with confidence and extending with a defined exit plan.
“Dell’s refresh timeline is a reasonable reference point, but it isn’t binding,” said Brendan Finley, Managing Partner and Founder of Maven IT Solutions. “The decision should come from what the workload actually needs and what the specific array can still deliver. A stable array running secondary workloads with a healthy parts supply is a very different case from a tier-one array that has run out of capacity headroom.”
The guidance also sets out the limits of third-party maintenance (TPM). TPM can take over hardware break-fix, parts sourcing, proactive monitoring, and escalation once OEM support ends. It cannot restore OEM firmware entitlement or produce an array OS or Unisphere update that only Dell can issue, and it does not correct an array that is failing for structural reasons. Maven describes TPM as a bridge toward migration, not a substitute for one.
The framework identifies several signals that point toward a refresh: an array nearing its capacity ceiling while workloads keep growing, latency rising under normal load, parts becoming hard to source for a specific generation, and compliance requirements that depend on active vendor firmware support rather than uptime alone. Data protection strategy, workload tuning, SRDF configuration, and capacity planning remain the organization’s responsibility under either support path.
“The support gap usually opens at the transition point, when a team decides an array has reached the end of its useful life,” Finley said. “Treating maintenance as a bridge toward a planned migration keeps that decision on the organization’s own timeline instead of forcing it during an outage.”

All Around Fence Outlines Safety Standards Behind Automated Gates

PASADENA, MD - October 16, 2026 - PRESSADVANTAGE - 
All Around Fence, a family-owned fencing contractor that has served Anne Arundel County for more than 25 years, today outlined the two safety standards behind automated gates and how it splits the work on gate projects. The first, UL 325, covers the operator and is intended to prevent a person from being caught or pinned by a moving gate. The second, ASTM F2200, governs the construction of the gate itself. It guards against gaps, pinch points and protruding parts where a moving panel could catch a hand or an arm.
Both standards trace back to injuries. According to the Door & Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA), an industry trade group, motorized gates installed without adequate concern for pedestrians resulted in some injuries and deaths until the mid-1990s. The Consumer Product Safety Commission tracked those accidents.
Revisions to UL 325 took effect in March 2000 and required two levels of protection against a person being trapped by a moving gate. The gate standard, which the association developed with two other trade groups, was first published in 2002. Since 2009, the model building codes published by the International Code Council have referenced both standards. State and local governments adopt those model codes as their building rules.
The gate standard also applies when a property owner wants to add a motor to an existing gate. DASMA's guidance for installers states that an existing manual gate must be brought into compliance with ASTM F2200 before it is automated. That work can include screening openings, covering exposed rollers or adding stops that limit how far the gate travels.
The company's gate projects cover residential driveways, commercial access points and community entrances, where a homeowners association may set the gate's height and finish. For new installations, All Around Fence, which holds Maryland Home Improvement Commission license No. 97820, builds the structure that the operator moves. One of the company's owners measures the opening. The company then sets the posts and builds the gate in aluminum, steel or wood.
The company installs a swing gate where the driveway has room for the panel to open and a slide gate, which travels along the fence line, where it does not. The partner company then mounts and wires the operator, along with its safety devices, such as sensors that detect obstructions in the gate's path.
DoorKing, a manufacturer of gate operators, describes a finished gate as one system with three parts. Those parts are the gate, the operator and the access control, such as a keypad or remote that signals the gate to open. All Around Fence's website lists the available access options, including keypads, card readers, remote controls, and smartphone entry.
Jeremy Verhoef, owner of All Around Fence, said: "Most people shop for the opener first, the brand and the remote. That opener is going to push and pull the gate we built every day for years. If the gate sags or the gaps are wrong, no motor fixes that, so the gate has to be right before anyone hangs an opener on it."

Together, these figures suggest that even as many kitchens continue to grow, the emphasis is shifting toward making better use of the space already present. The figures reflect what surveyed professionals expect over the next three years, not measured homeowner spending.
