Lowcountry Eye Care Welcomes New Optometrist Dr. Sara Restuccio
Summerville, South Carolina -
Summerville, SC, 8/30/2023 — Lowcountry Eye Care has announced that a new eye doctor will be joining their team on July 15. Sara Restuccio O.D., will be working as an optometrist at Lowcountry Eye Care’s locations in Summerville, Goose Creek, and Cane Bay where her presence will allow both offices to serve more patients.
“I’m very excited to have Dr. Restuccio joining our Goose Creek, Cane Bay, and Summerville practices,” said Wes Shealy, O.D, co-owner of Lowcountry Eye Care. “Having her on board is going to make it easier for patients to access our signature, quality care. She’s a talented doctor, and I know our patients will love working with her!”
Originally from Columbus, OH, Dr. Restuccio graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from the University of Miami. After completing her major in health science with minors in chemistry and exercise physiology, she started working as a technician and secretary at a private practice in Powell, OH.
Dr. Restuccio went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University’s College of Optometry, where she graduated cum laude. While pursuing her optometry degree, she became a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Society, and she is now a member of the American Optometric Association as well as the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association.
“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Restuccio joining us,” said Joe Pitcavage, O.D., co-owner and optometrist at Lowcountry Eye Care. “I’m glad to have another specialty contact lens fitter on the team who will be able to help even more patients find their ideal pair of contacts. I think our patients will really enjoy working with Dr. Restuccio, and it’s always wonderful to have new team members to really help us connect with local communities.”
After graduate school, Dr. Restuccio completed her residency at the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston. She offers a wide range of services, from comprehensive eye exams and primary care to ocular disease management and treatment. These diseases include conditions like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome, and more. She also has a special interest in using hard contact lenses for treating dry eye and corneal irregularities and will bring her specialty contact lens fittings skills to Goose Creek, Cane Bay, and Summerville.
“I knew I wanted to stay in the Lowcountry since I first came to Charleston for my residency,” said Dr. Restuccio. “I’m thrilled to call it home by joining the team at Lowcountry Eye Care! It’s great to meet everyone, and I can’t wait to start. I learned one of my main specialties here, working with low vision patients and contact lenses, which is something very important to me. I’m looking forward to meeting my patients.”
Lowcountry Eye Care is open and taking appointments for new and existing patients.
